THEMUSEUM Chosen as Top Tourism Destination
Announced at KW Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards
Kitchener, ON – THEMUSEUM in downtown Kitchener was honoured to be presented with the Hospitality/Tourism Award at the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards this evening.
While THEMUSEUM has been nominated in this category and for Innovation in the past, it is their first time being presented with a Business Excellence Award. David Marskell, CEO of THEMUSEUM, proudly accepted on behalf of THEMUSEUM’s staff and Board of Directors. “We are so pleased to be acknowledged as we’ve worked hard to raise the bar in terms of motivating cultural programming,” said Marskell in his acceptance speech on Thursday evening. “While under funded, THEMUSEUM has put itself and Kitchener-Waterloo on a much larger cultural map attracting day visits and overnight stays on a regular basis.”
During the past year THEMUSEUM:
Developed and presented RAM | Rethinking Art & Machine and ARENA | The Hockey Exhibition. As well, they were successful in attracting Add Colour | A Yoko Ono Exhibition, and Robotic Dinosaurs!
In the fall, THEMUSEUM really hit a home run as they secured the first stop on the North American Tour of James Cameron’s AVATAR | The Exhibition as well as the exclusive North American Premiere of Treasures of China Featuring The Dazu Rock Carvings, which runs through March 17th. Both were featured in a full section of the Toronto Star with distribution in excess of 575,000 copies in Toronto and the GTA.
On Thursday, February 28th, THEMUSEUM opens ONE LOVE | The Bob Marley Exhibition which is on an exclusive three city world tour that includes London, England and Miami, Florida.
