THEMUSEUM celebrates The Button Factory’s Anniversary with new art installation

Portraits by Button Factory Arts Sketch Club to be displayed

Kitchener, ON – THEMUSEUM in downtown Kitchener has recently partnered with The Sketch Group, which operates out of the Waterloo Community Arts Centre and The Button Factory, to present a special temporary exhibition featuring portraits of THEMUSEUM’s CEO, David Marskell, and Edwin Outwater, the Music Director of the Kitchener-Waterloo Orchestra.

The exhibition, which will be on display from July 16th to September 1st, will feature 11 portraits of Marskell, and eight of Outwater. All of the art was produced by members of Button Factory Arts, Sketch Club, which has been meeting on a weekly basis since 1999 and is based out of The Button Factory in Uptown Waterloo. In 2011, members began doing a series of Star Portraits to highlight local stars within the K-W community, which is where the exhibition stems from.

THEMUSEUM and The Button Factory have collaborated to display the portraits as a celebration of The Button Factory’s 20th anniversary. While The Button Factory has served the K-W community for over 100 years in a variety of ways, its main purpose for the past 20 years has been as an outlet for the arts and culture community. The portraits, which feature prominent members of K-W’s arts community, will further show the vibrant talent within the region as a whole.

Access for the exhibition will be included with THEMUSEUM’s general admission tickets. For more information, contact Melissa Stephens at Melissa.Stephens@THEMUSEUM.ca

The portraits will be on display from July 16th to September 1st, 2014.
