Kitchener, ON – THEMUSEUM in downtown Kitchener, in partnership with Kitchener-Waterloo United Football Club (KWUFC) will be hosting a World Cup Celebration on July 11th, 2014. This event will engage visitors with the culture of the FIFA World Cup nation, Brazil, as well as the game of soccer.
The event will feature performances from Axe Capoeira, a group from Toronto, who will show both traditional Brazilian dances, as well as demonstrations of the Brazilian martial art of capoeira, which combines elements of dance, acrobats and music. Members of the KWUFC team will also be present to engage with visitors and discuss soccer with young, aspiring players.
THEMUSEUM’s World Cup Celebration is showcasing how both the arts and sports can be related and celebrated together. This has been the goal of THEMUSEUM’s ongoing partnership with KWUFC. As part of the collaboration, a reciprocal program has been put in place where general admission receipts from THEMUSEUM gets visitors free admission to any one KWUFC home-game of their choice, with the last eligible home-game of the season being the day after the World Cup Celebration.
The event and performances will take place at THEMUSEUM on July 11th from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Access for the event will be included with THEMUSEUM’s general admission tickets. For more information, contact Senior Interpreter, Katie Kell, at Katie.Kell@THEMUSEUM.ca or 519-749-9387 x243.
