$143,500 OTF Grant Brings New Technology to THEMUSEUM

Kitchener, Ontario

On Tuesday, THEMUSEUM welcomed members of the public to a recognition and award ceremony celebrating new technology upgrades. The improvements were made possible thanks to the generous Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) funding. New technology upgrades included computers, lighting fixtures, and sound systems to improve the overall visitor experience and engagement.

Laura Mae Lindo, MPP for Kitchener Centre and Brendan Wylie-Toal, Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) volunteer arrived at THEMUSEUM to congratulate their efforts after receiving a $143,500 OTF grant in 2018. Following, THEMUSEUM would share how the new technology is already making a difference.

Laura Mae Lindo said, “THEMUSEUM is a community hub for Waterloo Region residents of all ages. In the heart of Downtown Kitchener, this investment to strengthen THEMUSEUM’s technological reach will serve our growing community for years to come. I always look forward to visiting with my family and attending community events and conversations that invite us to challenge our perspectives in rooms filled with love. I can’t wait to see what the future holds with these new investments.”

“After hosting more than one million visitors the investment of this Ontario Trillium grant cannot be underestimated or more timely.” Said David Marskell, CEO of THEMUSEUM, “The grant allows us to upgrade and make new purchases to better enhance our visitor’s experience.”

Quick facts:

  • Installation of classroom technologies: interactive projection system, whiteboard screen, computer tower, Apple TV and iPod Touch devices.
  • Upgrades include digital signage and wall-mounted televisions.
