From Behind the Mask organizers are creating a community quilt based on the form of a mask. The project is an opportunity to come together – while apart – and make something that will remain as a memorial, acknowledge inequality, and act as a starting point for healing.
During this workshop, Brenda, from From Behind the Mask, will introduce textiles, quilts, and the background of the project. Then she will demonstrate different techniques for creating your block, followed by questions/discussion. All ages are encouraged to get involved and taking part is easy! 55 & Better participants can participate with their grandkids or kids, it is an experience the whole family will enjoy.
Quilt Block Kits are available via Curbside pick-up or mail delivery. Curbside pick-up will be available on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 9 am to 5 pm, during THEMUSEUM’s curbside pick-up hours. Kits can be picked up beginning March 1, 2021. Quilt Block Kits can also be mailed to you by indicating in your registration form. For those who choose to have their kits mailed, they will be mailed out by Thursday, April 8, 2021, at the latest, so that they arrive the week of the workshop. Registration for this event closes April 8, 2021.
55 & Better Fridays are sponsored by Chartwell Retirement Residences and funded by the Government of Canada.
