*Shohini Ghose is a Professor of Physics and Computer Science and Director of the Centre for Women in Science at Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada. She is a theoretical physicist who examines how the laws of quantum physics might be harnessed to transform computation and communication. She and her colleagues made the first-ever movies of cesium atoms demonstrating a connection between chaos theory and quantum entanglement. She is the recipient of several awards including a 2011 Sera Bengali award and a TED Fellowship in 2014. Dr. Ghose has taught physics to over 2500 students and has co-authored the first Canadian introductory astronomy textbook that is now used in universities across Canada. In 2014, she won a Women of Waterloo (WOW) region award for Education and was recently featured on a list of “15 awe-inspiring Canadian women” by the W Network. She is an affiliate of the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics and the Institute for Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo, and a Fellow of the Balsillie School of International Affairs.
