Learn about the Brewers

Descendants Beer & Beverage Co. is an award winning Ontario craft brewery in operation for the last four years. We have a European-style bierhall & restaurant and we specialize in brewing our own recipes on our 15 hectalitre brewhouse. Home brewer turner craft brewer, Adam has been in the industry for three years. He’s worked every job from bartender to canning line, assistant brewer to brewer. He’s been one of the minds behind some of the more adventurous beers Descendants has put out recently, including some barrel aged, mixed fermentation and fruited beers. He’s always looking for something new and exciting to try out.

Together We’re Bitter Co-operative Brewing is a worker owned brewery that has been active in Kitchener for just over four years. We currently have 10 worker owners in various roles at the brewery as well as 17 community supporters and we pride ourselves in being a democratically run workplace. TWB is community centred and as much as we get a tremendous amount of support from our local clientele we love to give back as much as possible through charitable donations, events in support of local charities, and fund raising efforts for local organizations. We are a brewery focused on quality, classic styles of beer along with up and coming trends in beer styles. Peter Collins has been the head brewer for Together We’re Bitter Co-operative Brewing in Kitchener since 2016. Prior to joining TWB he was the head brewer for Grand River Brewing since 2015 and was employed in various roles with GRB since 2008. In his “other life” he is a professional bass trombonist having played with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra since 1992 and active in the freelance scene in Southern Ontario.

Since 1985, Wellington Brewery has been crafting their award-winning beers with a focus on quality, consistency, creativity, and balance. As one of Canada’s original craft brewers, we are independently owned and deeply rooted in our local community of Guelph, Ontario. We believe in creating delicious and well-balanced craft beers that bring people together. Join us and Try A Welly On! From “bottle monkey” to brewmaster, Marvin Dyck has watched the craft beer industry explode during his employment with Wellington Brewery since 2003. Graduating from the University of Guelph with a degree in Food Science he utilizes this knowledge on a daily basis as he oversees brewing, packaging and quality control. Part of his current role is managing personal and working alongside HR to hire and nurture good talent. His passion for making great beer is almost as big as his beard…almost. This passion is lived out on a daily basis as he seeks to develop new and unique beers using only the finest ingredients for his loyal customers.

You would be hard-pressed to find someone in the Ontario beer industry who doesn’t know and love Ren Navarro (Beer. Diversity.), our host for the evening. For over seven years she has been regarded as one of the most respected members in the industry, spending much of those years in the field as a sales representative for renowned and award-winning breweries. Ren is no stranger to public speaking and has appeared frequently at workshops, conferences, and talks informing and entertaining people through her love of craft beer.
