SUMMARY:Gaganoonidiwag Opening & Storytelling Activation
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the opening of Gaganoonidiwag: They Talk To Each Ot
her\, and the first Storytelling Activation of the exhibition.\n\n11AM - E
 xhibition Exploration\n11:15AM - Opening Remarks\n11:30AM - Storytelling A
ctivation: Stories are the Original Time Travellers with artists Nyle Miig
izi Johnston &amp\; Joel Richardson\n\nAs members of the Time Travellers C
ollective\, we recognize and honour the significant role that storytelling
plays in our lives. Stories teach us about the past and provide a means f
or us to imagine the future\, and to provide a vision for how to journey t
o a better one. Stories are the original time travellers\, which is why
so many of them have been carried across generations and diverse cultures.
\n\nWe invite people to hear the Collective's own origin story\, which sta
rts with two artists (one Indigenous\, one Settler) sharing their story as
an act of understanding and reconciliation. We will introduce visitors to
the stories that have inspired and shaped the mission of Commander George
Nadjiwon and Captain Jimmy Swann\, as they travel across the centuries in
an attempt to prevent what seems to be an inevitable dystopian future.\n\
nWe believe that sharing stories activates strong powers that can lead us
to more fruitful and enlightening ways of thinking about and understanding
the world around us\, how we got here\, and where we are going.\n\nAfter
the activation\, refreshments will be served during exhibition exploration
