A Russian Accent
THEMUSEUM, as a part of its effort to present diverse voices and fresh cultural content from around the globe, is proud to present A Russian Accent. The exhibition gives THEMUSEUM the opportunity to share Russian traditional, contemporary and sport culture with Canadians of all ages.
The exhibition is in honour and recognition of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia and the complementary programming enables children to explore and discover Russian culture as well as the similarities and differences between Russia and Canada.
A Russian Accent features photographs of the Arctic taken by Russian and Canadian photographers Afanassi Makovnev and Michelle Valberg. The photographs, from Russia to Canada, were taken during the Marine Live-Ice Automobile Expeditions to the North Pole which began in 2008. As you’ll discover, they showcase the Arctic region in all its beauty.
As neighbours who share the Arctic, Canadians and Russians have a unique connection to this fascinating northern landscape.
A Russian Accent is in partnership with the Embassy of the Russian Federation to Canada and the Russia Federal Consul General of Toronto.
