Discovering Chimpanzees: The Remarkable World of Jane Goodall

Discovering Chimpanzees: The Remarkable World of Jane Goodall sparked interest with students and educators through an interactive exploration of Dr. Jane Goodall’s life work with chimpanzees, including replicas of her work tent and jungle scenes.

A simulated forest environment spanned the center of the exhibit where visitors were invited to enter the amazing world of chimpanzees, to walk like a chimp and to climb into a chimp nest. Visitors explored the Order of Primates and the status of Primates around the world. They met the chimp’s primate relatives and learned about the historic work of Jane Goodall that spanned an impressive 40 years.

The focus and climax of the experience was Reason for Hope – a look to the future. A special exhibit celebrating people who have taken action to deal with important environmental and societal issues.

Appropriately, Dr. Goodall had the last word as a life-sized video image of her inspires visitors to take heart from her message of hope. Individuals, working together, can make a difference in the struggle to protect these unique creatures and to preserve the planet’s biodiversity and our natural heritage.
