FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: KITCHENER-WATERLOO’S FIRST IMMERSIVE GALLERY EXPERIENCE COMING TO THEMUSEUM

Permanently featured at THEMUSEUM, EYEPOOL will feature art and technology at play

KITCHENER, ON | November 7, 2022 — Starting in March 2023, the public will gain access to Kitchener-Waterloo’s first permanent immersive gallery experience at THEMUSEUM, called EYEPOOL. EYEPOOL comes purposefully built to host digital, projection-based content featuring rotating themes and artwork from a variety of artists to appeal to a broad audience.

“At THEMUSEUM, we have always prioritized innovation and the advancement of Kitchener-Waterloo’s arts and culture landscape,” says David Marskell, CEO of THEMUSEUM. “The idea for EYEPOOL was to continue this mission and create something new for our region. As the first permanent immersive gallery experience in our community, we are thrilled to see how the immersive experience inspires tourism, curiosity, enlightenment, and awe.”

As a permanent fixture at THEMUSEUM, EYEPOOL will bring the opportunity to feature a wide variety of themes and content in response to current seasons, issues, artists, trends and more. This provides a unique opportunity to unleash limitless creativity with minimal constraints in terms of the themes of the content. THEMUSEUM will work with digital artists and creators who align with our vision to awe, inspire and enlighten audiences.

In the future, THEMUSEUM has plans to work with local artists, and partner with digital art post-secondary programs both locally and across Ontario to be featured in the exhibit. This project will be launched with a generous contribution by Christie Digital.

EYEPOOL is fully equipped with 14 state-of-the-art Christie Digital Inspire Projectors in an 800-square-foot gallery, along with audio, visual, and other interactive specifications. This setup will create a fully immersive experience that washes across all four walls and floor, using a blend of visuals, sound, and technology to deliver unforgettable and engaging escapes.

EYEPOOL comes after a series of successes for THEMUSEUM, recently having featured the wildly successful exhibit, The Rolling Stones | UNZIPPED. As the first international exhibition by and about the world-famous rock band, UNZIPPED made THEMUSEUM its first Canadian home following engagements in London, the United States, Australia, and Asia. The exhibition featured hundreds of original Stones artifacts and memorabilia, offering the most comprehensive and immersive insight into the band’s nearly 60-year journey.

Opening November 12th, THEMUSEUM has partnered with Shaftesbury Films to create an exhibition of the successful Canadian television show Murdoch Mysteries. At the end of the run THEMUSEUM will tour the exhibition across Canada and beyond.
