“The first month of operation was very successful in terms of ticket and merchandise sales and attracting visitors to the community,” said CEO of THEMUSEUM David Marskell. “We can now get back to what we are good at and awe, inspire & enlighten our guests”.

Jonathan Walford, Curatorial Director of the Fashion History Museum said, “Our visitation increased by 15% because of our cross-promotion with UNZIPPED and THEMUSEUM and visitor response has been overwhelmingly positive”.

“We are pleased with the festival strategy and how working together has been successful for the hospitality and arts and cultural sectors,” Marskell said. “In addition, we have received 5-Star ratings from our guests, the majority of which have never been to THEMUSEUM.” Some reviews can be found at the bottom of this release.

Visitors are also travelling to THEMUSEUM’s uptown gallery in Waterloo to view The Ronnie Wood Art Exhibition. With the success of the show, and to make it more accessible for the community and visitors, THEMUSEUM now offers The Ronnie Wood Art Exhibition at no cost.

Hours for both locations have been updated to better serve guests and can be found at UNZIPPEDkw.ca.

Paint it Black Fridays will return to THEMUSEUM’s Voodoo Lounge at 50% capacity giving those 19+ a unique experience.

THEMUSEUM will operate at 40% capacity with strict public health measures in place, including mandatory masks and the requirement of at least two vaccinations. This is less than the province has mandated which is 50% capacity.

UNZIPPED Visitor Testimonials

“I recently went to THEMUSEUM to visit the Rolling Stones exhibit with some co-workers. Going in I had no knowledge on the Rolling Stones. I was amazed by the sheer amount of content the exhibit had to offer as well as being able to convey to me just how important they were to the music industry. The number of authentic items was huge and how the exhibit showed the band members was cool – including their rooms and quotes at the different sections made me feel as if I knew the people without even knowing them. I plan on taking my family to the exhibit next week and want to tell you how impressive and impactful the exhibit was to me and want to thank you for making such an amazing exhibit.”

“I bought tickets to bring my father – he is in his late 70s and grew up in southeast England. Walking the exhibit with him and the memories prompted by a lot of the posters and programs was delightful. It was very special to be able to spend that time together and experience this, especially in 2021, when there has been so little out of the ordinary for so long. Thank you. Sincerely. It meant so very much to me, and I enjoyed the exhibit thoroughly on its own, but to share it with my dad was extra special.”

“Totally enjoyed it, you made it personal …I took my children as I always promised to take them to the see the Stones, you made this affordable. You gave us another reason to enjoy the stones, they almost felt touchable!! Cheers!”

“It was a bit out of the way coming from TO but overall, it was worth it! Great exhibition, great staff, I saw lots of staff cleaning which was awesome, and everyone was lovely. I’ve already recommended it to some fellow music lovers!”

“The exhibit was much larger than I expected. It is excellent. You need to get the word out to all residents of the GTA; that they should attend this exhibit in Kitchener.”

“Thanks for hosting this exhibit! It was worth the trip from Ottawa!”
