FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE : THEMUSEUM Develops Photography-Based Exhibition to Celebrate Jack Kerouac’s 100th Birthday

ROLLING UNDER THE STARS | A Photographic Journey

Kitchener ON | Tuesday, March 15, 2022 – To celebrate the 100th birthday, March 12, of novelist Jack Kerouac, THEMUSEUM is proud to announce a new photography-based exhibition, ROLLING UNDER THE STARS | A Photographic Journey.

ROLLING UNDER THE STARS – a line from On the Road, a novel by Jack Kerouac, written over the course of three weeks in 1951 and published in 1957 – will be curated by Virginia Eichhorn a frequent collaborator of THEMUSEUM’s.

The exhibition will feature photographic works by Scooter Korek who has documented unique spaces and faces across all 10 provinces and 50 US states.

“Scooter’s photos take us on a road trip from coast to coast, down less travelled roadways, and to places famous, notorious and sometimes off-the-beaten-track – much like the narrative within Kerouac’s masterpiece, On The Road.” Said Virginia Eichhorn.

The exhibition will celebrate human connections to places, to others, and instill hope to go forward with optimism and intrepid enthusiasm, in a post COVID world.

To immerse himself in the project, CEO of THEMUSEUM, David Marskell drove Route 66 picking it up in St. Louis and following it to Santa Monica Pier in March.

Marskell said… “I am pleased to bring together and unleash two incredibly talented people, Virginia, and Scooter on this important project. After the opening run in Kitchener ROLLING UNDER THE STARS will appropriately go on the road and tour Canada and the United States”.

Kerouac wrote in On the Road: “By God, I gotta come back and see what else will happen!” which is what THEMUSEUM believes will happen as guests wish to experience the many films, dialogues, and general exploration of the Beat Generation at THEMUSEUM and with collaborative groups in the community.

The exhibition is set to open in the Fall of 2022 then tour North America.

More information will be available soon at THEMUSEUM.ca.
