Intangible: Invisible Treasures Revealed

Set to Open at THEMUSEUM April 1, 2025

KITCHENER, ON – THEMUSEUM is poised to open its newest exhibition, this time in partnership with China, India, and the US States of Texas and Pennsylvania.

“Intangible: Invisible Treasures, Revealed” features more than six dozen real artifacts, invisible to the naked eye including:
• A cubic meter of smoke air from the recent L.A. wildfires
•A sample of wind from 2024’s Hurricane Milton
• Evidence of weapons of mass destruction from the Iraq war
• On loan from the British High Commission, a glass-enclosed sample of Sir Winston Churchill’s breath.

“Only a tiny percentage of the known universe is visible to the naked eye,” notes David Marskell, CEO of THEMUSEUM. “This exhibition is a rare, and cost-effective sample of the unseen universe.”

Titled “The Heirs of Air” during its wildly successful run in New Zealand, “Intangible” comes to THEMUSEUM with several new interactive experiences.

“Kids are going to love the interactive “Hoof Arted” room, where they try to match the scent of a toot to the animal that made it” says Marskell. “For sports fans, we’re thrilled that the Hockey Hall of fame is loaning us a collection of Toronto Maple Leaf Stanley Cup rings of the past half century.”

On the May long weekend, Waterloo Region Wildlife staff will lead kids on a field trip to scan the sky for bird tracks.
Visitors can belly up to an Oxygen Bar and purchase an airtight container to capture a sample of their own breath, or that of a favourite pet, to cherish and keep at home.

Tariffs were an obstacle, Marskell admits, in obtaining the U.S. artifacts, including two glass-encased air samples from Pittsburgh taken 60 years apart. “The newer sample is 3.3 degrees warmer than the older one” says Marskell, “a sobering reminder of the effects of climate change.

“Absorbing the tariffs on the air is worth it” adds Marskell, “and to show there’s no hard feelings towards our U.S. visitors, we’ll be accepting American money at par.”

The April 1st opening features a concert by Air Supply, playing their hits and covering others, such as In The Air by Black Eyed Peas, AIR by Shawn Mendes and AiR CANADA, by Canada’s own Riff Raff!

“Intangible: Invisible Treasures Revealed” opens April 1st and dissipates on Labour Day.
