Record Setting SPECTRUM Extended Through 2020, Immersive experience sets four monthly attendance records and second highest attended year to date

Kitchener, ON

Opening in January of 2019, the immersive, interactive SPECTRUM #colourtripping exhibition curated by THEMUSEUM’s Laurel McKellar immediately sparked interest from a wide range of visitors.

“Every once in a while we capture lightning in a bottle, and we have accomplished that with SPECTRUM” said David Marskell, CEO of THEMUSEUM. “From the opening night, in collaboration with Vidyard we’ve attracted tech workers, seniors, young families and even the elusive millennial!”

As a result of the success, which saw four monthly attendance records set and the second highest attended year in THEMUSEUM’s history the show will be extended through January 2020. In addition the exhibition has been refreshed with some new works.

One of the new artists is Kat Hernden, a local Downtown Kitchener visual artist. Several of Hernden’s geometric creations will be featured along with a new commission entitled Nothing Doesn’t Exist that will put a new twist on #colourtripping.

The success of SPECTRUM has proven there is an appetite for immersive experiences in Waterloo Region and beyond and THEMUSEUM plans to continue that strategy. “One of THEMUSEUM’s core values is experiential learning and that strategy has helped grow the young adult market in recent years.” Marskell went on to say.

Beginning with an opening party, September 19th, 2019 AFTERLIFE | A Séance Experience Featuring The Ghost of Thomas Lacey will take over the third level at THEMUSEUM and explore death, rituals, darkness, and spiritualism.
