Call for Artists Now Open

What is it?

THEMUSEUM is proud to host Waterloo Region’s original and premiere live art-making event, The Brush Off, again on Saturday, January 27th, 2024. The Brush Off will begin at 7:30 pm and end at midnight. During this fundraising event, artists are invited to participate in a friendly competition, painting and creating art live in front of a live audience!

Guests will enjoy a drink while watching artists create artwork in front of their eyes during this fast-paced art-making competition. Throughout the night attendees will vote on their favourite paintings and have the chance to take one home from our silent auction.

THEMUSEUM is a registered not-for-profit, charitable organization and puts on events like this one to fundraise to stay open and offer fresh and relevant exhibitions and programming to this community. Each artist is donating their time to create the art, and THEMUSEUM and artists share in the silent auction proceeds (60/40). Along with the artists, guests support THEMUSEUM at the event through ticket sales, art sales, and drink sales.

What are we looking for?

THEMUSEUM seeks artists to participate in The Brush Off – artists who thrive in an exciting, dynamic, engaging environment, while creating their work on the spot.

The selected artists will compete in up to 3 rounds of competition. Competitors for the final rounds will be selected by audience votes as they advance throughout the competition.

The winning artist and the runner-up are guaranteed to receive prizes!

THEMUSEUM will provide all paint, canvas, and easels. Artists will provide their own brushes/tools.

Artists are encouraged to sell tickets to friends and family to create their own cheering section!

Participants must be a minimum of 18 years of age.

There is room for limited participation.
