THEMUSEUM partners with Swiss Consulate and Swiss Artist on new Exhibition

Kitchener, ON — SONICA | The Sound Experience, Digital Dynamics 2021 is one of the latest exhibitions at THEMUSEUM in downtown Kitchener. Comprising engaging and reflective works, SONICA | The Sound Experience brings together eight inspiring artists and artist groups to interpret and explore sound.

Featured in the SONICA exhibition is an installation by internationally renowned artist, Zimoun, called 216 prepared dc-motors, cotton balls, cardboard boxes 40x40x40 cm. With cardboard supplied by Packaging Too, Zimoun’s artwork fuses everyday objects with the dynamic chaos of natural forces.

Zimoun currently lives and works in Bern, Switzerland. The Consulate General of Switzerland in Montreal has kindly sponsored this exhibition. Their partnership with this exhibition further supports THEMUSEUM’s mission to scan the globe for fresh cultural content.

“We are delighted to contribute to the diffusion of Swiss artistic creation by showing the Canadian public a transdisciplinary project that excellently represents the innovative Helvetic cultural scene,” says Giancarlo Paduano-Heller, Consul of Switzerland in Montreal.

Artists featured in SONICA | The Sound Experience include Zimoun, as well as James Kirkpatrick, Kanika Gupta, Luisa Ji, Tosca Terán, FOO/SKOU (Louise Foo and Martha Skou), Scott Lindsay and Richard Burrows, Mary Abdel-Malek Neil and David Rokeby.

“We are excited for our guests to explore these sound works, reflect on sound in their own lives and how they experience it”, says Laurel McKellar, Senior Director, Curation, Exhibitions & Program Development, “Get ready to be awed, inspired, and enlightened”.

THEMUSEUM in Downtown Kitchener is once again open to the public and admission tickets for SONICA | The Sound Experience can be purchased at www.THEMUSEUM.ca through September 2021. Support for SONICA was also received by the Government of Ontario.
