Kitchener, ON | DATE – In 2020, THEMUSEUM received a $72,500 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) to rebuild and recover from the effects of the pandemic. This funding was instrumental in helping THEMUSEUM develop and program exciting experiences for Waterloo Region students and families to enjoy at home over the past year.
“THEMUSEUM has been integral in providing Kitchener Centre and Waterloo Region communities with meaningful virtual programming during the pandemic,” said Laura Mae Lindo, MPP for Kitchener Centre. “I am thankful for the ways it has provided avenues for the community to continue engaging with each other in safe and impactful ways. Continuation of THEMUSEUM’s programs will sustain the health, well-being and vibrancy of our community as we see the pandemic through to its final stages.”
The OTF funding assisted THEMUSEUM not only in adapting their programming for virtual consumption, but also in developing new virtual programs, investing in staff, and purchasing key filming and broadcasting equipment to build out a new way to deliver programming into the future.
“When COVID-19 blocked in-person visits, THEMUSEUM was quick to go offsite with the successful Dinosaur Drive Thru, and to grow its audience in the Region and beyond with online programing for all stages of life,” said David Marskell, CEO of THEMUSEUM.
THEMUSEUM’s mission is to scan the globe for fresh cultural content and use it to stage experiences that stimulate transformative connections for audiences.
