April 1, 2020: Planning for a time beyond these difficult days, THEMUSEUM has announced the debut of their newest original exhibition: UNWRAPPED: The Story of Toilet Paper. Scheduled to open in April, 2021. “Recent headlines made it clear that toilet paper is number one with everyone who goes number two” said David Marskell, THEMUSEUM’s CEO.
UNWRAPPED: The Story of Toilet Paper will feature gold leaf toilet paper from the reign of Louis XIV; toilet paper made of repurposed $1 bills from the executive washroom at Goldman Sachs; a salute to Maybird Ributti (inventor of perforated squares), and a larger-than-life statue of Mr. Whipple, made entirely of single-ply. No previously enjoyed toilet paper will be on display.
“THEMUSEUM has been on a jumbo roll over the past two years, said Marskell as exhibitions such as SPECTRUM and ALARM | Responding to our Climate Emergency have cleaned up nicely in terms of accolades and awards. The bottom-line is we don’t want to be left behind, rather raring to go when life gets back to normal.” UNWRAPPED: The Story of Toilet Paper will be sponsored by Metamucil and Sun Kissed Prunes.
Wanting to get to the bottom of the story of toilet paper a highlight will be the world debut of ‘virtual toilet paper’, currently being Beta tested by BIDET a KW tech firm. THEMUSEUM is also planning a series of Toilet Paper Dialogues, including “Over the Top | The Right Way to Put Toilet Paper on its Roll” as well as a panel of Advertising experts discussing “Bears and Toilet Paper: Myths and Realities.” “Nature journals record no documentation of bears using toilet paper in the wild.” said Marskell. “Not a lot of people know that and we want to get to the bottom of it.”
During the exhibition, new Members or those renewing will receive a roll of Charmin.
