THE BRUSH OFF – Call For Artists

What is it?

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, THEMUSEUM is proud to host Waterloo Region’s original and premiere live painting event, The Brush Off! This year’s competition will take place on Thursday, January 21, beginning at 7pm. During this virtual event, participating artists will engage in a friendly painting competition, creating artworks in front of an at-home audience. Artists will expose the wealth of artistic talent that exists in this community and beyond!

Viewers will enjoy the intensity of the creative process, enjoy music from a live DJ, vote for their favourite painting, and even get a chance to bid on the artworks created in an online silent auction following the live stream – all from the comfort of their own homes. The artist with the most votes will walk away with a prize!

THEMUSEUM is a registered not for profit, charitable organization. We have hosted The Brush Off for the past ten years as a means to fundraise financial support for our institution so that we can continue to offer fresh and relevant cultural content to this community.

THEMUSEUM is providing each artist with the materials for the competition, and in return, each artist will donate their time to create the art. THEMUSEUM & the artist will split the proceeds from the silent auction.

What are we seeking?

THEMUSEUM is seeking artists to participate in The Brush Off 10th Anniversary: Virtual Edition – artists who thrive in an exciting, dynamic, engaging environment while creating their work on the spot.

Artists will compete in rounds; audience votes will determine who will advance to the second & final round!

The winning artist and the runner-up are guaranteed to receive prizes!

THEMUSEUM will provide all paint, canvas, and easels. Artists will provide their brushes/tools for the event.

Artists are encouraged to sell tickets to friends and family to create their very own cheering section!
