THEMUSEUM Partners with TIFF; Endeavors to de-mystify Bitcoin

Two New Exhibitions Set to Launch in May

Kitchener, Ontario –

One of our mottos (because, why should we choose just one?!) is Art & Technology at Play. So it’s only natural that THEMUSEUM partner with a fellow cultural organization to bring an immersive experience to Waterloo Region.

TIFF presents digiPlaySpace, an interactive adventure where families will laugh and explore with new media technologies, learning-centric games, and hands-on installations. This exhibition, featuring innovative works from internationally recognized media artists, opens May 31, 2018 at THEMUSEUM.

“Visitors can transform into animated characters, talk like a robot, race their friends on a track they design, or create their own short animated video – it all happens here,” says Laurel McKellar, Senior Director, Exhibitions & Program Development at THEMUSEUM.

Decoding E-Money, organized and circulated by the Bank of Canada Museum, (Opening May 19) is the perfect way to discover the emerging world of bitcoin. Now, we’re not saying we’ll make you into overnight virtual currency millionaires – but it could happen! At the very least, follow your dollar through the economy; from purchase to deposit using traditional and e-payment systems.

“Experiential learning is one of THEMUSEUM values and these two experiences are great examples,” says THEMUSEUM CEO David Marskell. “By de-mystifying virtual currencies and partnering with TIFF, I believe will help awe, inspire and enlighten this community.”

Our media partner for digiPlaySpace is CHYM 96.7, Country 106.7 & 570 News. Decoding E-Money is generously sponsored by The Actuarial Foundation of Canada and BDO.
