A tribute to our friend and partner Syd Bolton

It is with profound sadness that we mourn the loss of Syd Bolton. This self-professed geek lived and breathed all things tech and was the founder and owner of the Personal Computer Museum in Brantford.

We have known, befriended and worked with Syd for almost 10 years and are so proud to have recently partnered with him to showcase his extensive collection of computers, vintage consoles and old school video games.

It was an absolute privilege to work with Syd this past year as part of INTERPLAY and Digital Dynamics 2018. As an unconventional museum, we were able to provide a stage that allowed Syd to share his unique collection, his passion and love for computer history.

INTERPLAY appealed to all demographics, as its nostalgic aspect was not lost on those who were among the first to experience this ‘new’ technology. “Syd was such a kind-hearted person and was truly a great partner in our exhibitions and programming. He will be greatly missed,” said Laurel McKellar, Senior Director of Exhibitions and Program Development

On a personal note, we grieve with his family and his wife Jenny. THEMUSEUM will be making a donation in his honour. If you would like to support, please click here.

“I am so pleased that we gave Syd what was to be, his final, but largest stage ever. The arts and culture sector will sorely miss his passion and commitment to youth, the community and others,” said David Marskell, CEO of THEMUSEUM.
