Kitchener, ON – In a concerted effort to transform its curriculum-based education offerings into an accessible online learning experience THEMUSEUM is excited to announce a new partnership with D2L.
This transition will provide teachers with the ability to seamlessly and safely access THEMUSEUM’s educational programs virtually while continuing to offer a unique learning experience to both students and teachers.
“Great organizations must find ways to adapt especially during uncertain times,” said David Marskell, CEO of THEMUSEUM. “Turning to the proven D2L Brightspace platform, available to all K-12 public schools in Ontario, will allow us to continue to engage with thousands of students and actually grow.”
John Bryant, Director of the WRDSB, added, “WRDSB students and staff have always enjoyed the amazing arts and cultural programming provided by THEMUSEUM. The move to Brightspace is an example of yet another innovative approach on the part of THEMUSEUM that will ensure that students are able to continue to access these incredible opportunities.”
WCDSB Director of Education, Loretta Notten, continued, “The WCDSB is proud to be partnering with THEMUSEUM to find new and innovative ways to provide programming to our students in these new times. The engaging experience of visiting THEMUSEUM has always been one we have valued for our students and the new partnership that THEMUSEUM is forging with D2L allows that experience to continue. We look forward to connecting our students to this dynamic learning opportunity and once again having them visit our rich local resource in THEMUSEUM.”
The decision to use D2L’s Brightspace platform was an easy and essential move for THEMUSEUM to invest in as the software is widely used and recognized by other organizations and most importantly by all school boards across Ontario. Brightspace allows THEMUSEUM to harness new and exciting ways to deliver fun, educational content directly into a classroom environment.
“I’ve had the chance to use Brightspace on multiple occasions – each time, it doesn’t disappoint. With D2L, it’s one platform where I’m able to learn content, contact teachers, have quizzes/tests, and have access to other external resource. It’s a multi-use platform, which is so easy to navigate. For a student like me – who’s learning in an online setting, only -, I feel comfortable and confident beginning the school year with D2L.” – Namrata, 17, Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary School
“D2L is excited to work with such a creative learning institution to transform the experiences they provide to the wider education community,” said D2L President and CEO John Baker. “We’re very proud to help THEMUSEUM bring inspiring resources and content to students and teachers throughout Ontario and the world.”
THEMUSEUM’s core values have always been to offer experiential learning through unexpected interactions and this partnership with D2L allows THEMUSEUM to reach a wider audience both inside and outside of the Waterloo Region with the hope of one day being able to awe, inspire and enlighten teachers and students across the country and beyond.
Marskell went on to say, “This opens a whole new world of content for our educators at THEMUSEUM to seek out and bring to our deserving community while taking proven content we have produced to schools from the North West Territories to Florida.”
