Communication has changed drastically over time with the move from analog to digital. We are instantly connected and plugged in to the digital world around us through inventions in new media and technology. This transformation is the primary basis of Laura Snider’s installation, Phone, which is on display as part of the Fast Forward Waterloo Region exhibition.

A week ago we teamed up with our friends at The Walper Hotel to capture some amazing moments throughout downtown Kitchener.

This October, THEMUSEUM is opening its new Underground Studio MakerSpace: a hands-on learning environment for children and youth to explore the fields of S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, art and math) and tinker, hack, build, design, imagine, and create.

Mike Farwell, who works for KW’s 570News, is one of our frequent visitors, but he also collaborates with us for some of his own events, including fundraisers for Cystic Fibrosis.

This month’s Friend of THEMUSEUM is Jason Panda, who created Image A Show | Youth Photography. Jason is a teacher in Waterloo Region who works with, and encourages youth to be creative and have fun with photography and design.

This year’s first event, Beer + Dinosaurs, features Dustin Growick, AKA The Dinosaur Whisperer. Dustin is known online for his YouTube Channel, The Dinosaur Show, and his Instagram account, where he has over 24K followers.
