What does my donation support?

Your generous donations assist THEMUSEUM in

delivering curriculum-based education programs to school groups
staging world-class exhibitions in our galleries
running hands-on STEAM workshops with cutting-edge equipment
and offering a full slate of educational and social inclusion events for all ages.

Your support can be designated for our general operating fund, or you can select a specific program from the drop-down menus (e.g. Membership for a Senior in Need, STEAM-Powered Girls – Send a Kid to Camp, Underground Studio Makerspace).

Is THEMUSEUM a registered charity?

Yes, THEMUSEUM’s charitable registration number is 869509554RR0001.

Is my donation tax deductible?

If you donate $10 or more, THEMUSEUM will issue a charitable tax receipt for your donation.

If you choose to become a Donor Member or purchase tickets to a fundraising event, the value of the benefit received (the membership or ticket price) is deducted from the total and the THEMUSEUM issues a tax receipt for the remaining amount.

Will I receive a donation receipt?

If you donate $10 or more and have provided your full mailing address (for the Canada Revenue Agency record), THEMUSEUM will issue a charitable tax receipt for your donation. We create a PDF receipt that we forward to your email address; paper copies can be mailed upon request.

How else can I make a donation?

THEMUSEUM maintains a charity profile on CanadaHelps.

You can also make a gift by mail, telephone, gift of shares, or EFT by getting in touch with THEMUSEUM’s Development Staff (see How can I contact THEMUSEUM staff about my donation?)

Can I donate in honour/memory of someone?

Yes, our online donation forms include a section where you can share dedication information to celebrate your loved ones. You can also select if you wish to send a message/e-card or notification of the gift by email.

How can I contact THEMUSEUM staff about my donation?

If you have any questions or requests, or wish to arrange an offline donation to THEMUSEUM, please contact THEMUSEUM’s Manager of Development, Bridget Hinnegan, at bridget.hinnegan@themuseum.ca.

Does THEMUSEUM have a patron program or donor’s circles?

If you wish to donate $300+, please consider a donor membership! You will receive a dual membership, a tax receipt for the donation value, and additional benefits. Visit our Donor Membership for more information.

Can I donate anonymously?

You can indicate if you do not wish to be acknowledged publicly by adding a message to the organization when you make your donation online. Before THEMUSEUM issues its annual impact report, THEMUSEUM staff will also contact past donors to confirm if they wish to be included in the list of donors.

It is also possible to remain fully anonymous by providing no contact information at the time of donation, but a tax receipt cannot be issued if you decline to provide your name and address.

Can I donate an artifact to THEMUSEUM?

THEMUSEUM is a non-collecting museum. If you would like to find a home for an artefact or artwork, THEMUSEUM does not usually accept items, but we can recommend other contacts in our community.

When you make a gift of $300 or more, you become part of THEMUSEUM’s community of Donor Members. A Donor Membership supports THEMUSEUM’s mission to Awe, Inspire and Enlighten and is an expression of your commitment to supporting arts and culture in our community. You help us bring world-class exhibitions and unique S.T.E.A.M. programming to audiences of all ages!

Donor members receive a dual membership and benefit from additional recognition and exclusive experiences or opportunities.

Donation Requests

Holding a fundraiser and looking to involve THEMUSEUM? Together we are able to awe, inspire, and enlighten!

We are pleased to share complimentary passes that can be used as prizes or auction items for events benefitting schools, government-affiliated organizations, or charitable organizations and causes. Please make your request at least 6 weeks before your event. THEMUSEUM does not require a tax receipt for these contributions.

We do not support events that directly benefit an individual/family.

Given the large number of requests we receive, THEMUSEUM is only able to accommodate a limited number of donation requests.
