Convention to feature 30 vendors, interactive games and special guests
KITCHENER, ON | February 8, 2023 — THEMUSEUM is pleased to announce the return of its annual comic con convention, TriConKW, after a six-year hiatus.
On Family Day Weekend, February 18, 19 and 20, convention goers can live their ultimate fan fantasies with interactive experiences, panel discussions, special guests and more than 80 vendors.
The three-day event will feature Kitchener’s own Hacksmith Industries, with more than 1 million followers and Stargate: Atlantis actor, David Hewlett.
“As a born and raised Kitchenerite, I am excited to participate in TriConKW to meet local fans and fellow comic enthusiasts in the community! says James Hobson, CEO & Founder of Hacksmith Industries. “We will show you some of my favourite ‘MAKE IT REAL’ projects at this event! See you there!”
Stargate: Atlantis actor, David Hewlett, will also be in attendance to host a panel on Sunday, February 19 at the Apollo Cinema. Stargate: Atlantis, a science fiction television series, first aired in 2004. The sci-fi show, a spinoff of Stargate SG-1, aired for five seasons.
“I can’t wait to join TriConKW and THEMUSEUM to do some Stargate reminiscing and Techbandits geeking out with my fellow CaNERDians…See you all there!” Says David Hewlett.
Convention festivities kick off on Saturday, February 18 with all-day vendors and exhibitors, a board game cafe, and afternoon costume contests. A full listing and schedule will soon be online at THEMUSEUM.ca.
“We are excited, during our 20th Anniversary year, to bring back some of the memorable experiences from our first 20 years,” says David Marskell, CEO, THEMUSEUM. “We were the first to host the major experience called TriConKW but chose to pause six years ago when other groups began competing with us with City Hall as a free venue. We have not associated in any way with that now defunct group and look forward to returning to our roots as a leader in entertainment and education in Waterloo Region.”
