In Support of Mel Brown Statue Project
Kitchener ON | May 25, 2022 – THEMUSEUM and Abe Erb Brewery are excited to announce a collaborative project to remember the late blues icon, Mel Brown, in time for the inaugural Mel Brown Music Festival & Symposium this weekend.
The Mel Brown Lager is a clean and crisp American beer brewed in Mel Brown’s second home, Kitchener Ontario. Proceeds from the beer sales will go to support the statue.
To date, THEMUSEUM has invested or raised $50,000 towards the statue and is requesting the corporate community and individuals to also donate.
At the launch event, THEMUSEUM also announced a Request for Proposal will be issued for Black Canadian artists to create the statue of the late singer, under the watchful eye of his widow, Miss Angel.
The Mel Brown Music Festival kicks off this coming weekend, with Miss Angel performing at THEMUSEUM on Sunday, May 29. Tickets can be purchased at the door subject to availability.
