THEMUSEUM is currently accepting applications from new and emerging artists who identify as d/Deaf or hard of hearing, blind or visually impaired, neurodiverse, and/or identify with other disabilities of the senses for the opportunity to be showcased in a solo exhibition called SenseAbility.
Project Description: In the exhibition SPECTRUM | The Five Senses on now at THEMUSEUM, visitors are encouraged to explore with their senses, but we acknowledge that each individual person experiences and senses the world in a different way, especially since not all of us have access to all five senses. For the SenseAbility project, THEMUSEUM will showcase new and emerging artistic perspectives, particularly from those who are differently abled. As such, the artwork should reflect this theme. SenseAbility will open in September 2022 and run to the end of the year.
We invite artists working in all media to submit a proposal and encourage submissions from diverse communities and cultural backgrounds including but not limited to Black, Indigenous, POC and LGBTQIA+.
Submission Criteria
Your submission should contain the following:
- Resume/Curriculum Vitae: maximum 3 pages
- Digital Portfolio: 5 to10 images of a combination of previous work and the work intended for exhibition. All images must include a description of the piece, as well as the dimensions of the work, media, title and year of production.
- Short Biography & Proposal: A brief write-up about you as an individual and artist, highlighting why you want to participate in this exhibition; Maximum 250 words
