THEMUSEUM is excited to announce our upcoming exhibition called HOCKEY: Faster Than Ever, a highly interactive 8,000 sq. ft. touring exhibition focusing on the science, history, and culture of hockey. The exhibition will open at the GloveBox Saturday, September 30, 2023, and run through Sunday, January 14, 2024.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at TheHockeyExhibit.ca

This exhibition will be hosted at the GloveBox – 120 Victoria Street South, Kitchener, not at THEMUSEUM’s main space at King and Queen.

David Marskell, CEO of THEMUSEUM said… “After bringing numerous world-class exhibitions to our community it is time to celebrate Canada’s game of Hockey! This major exhibition is a fantastic intersection of sport, technology, and the science of hockey and will be enjoyed by corporate and school groups, families, hockey teams and fans of all ages.”

Prepare to be amazed as HOCKEY: Faster Than Ever takes visitors through the evolution of the sport, highlighting the remarkable technological advancements and scientific breakthroughs that have shaped hockey over time. From the application of cutting-edge technologies to the physics governing the art of play, this interactive exhibition will leave audiences astounded by the fusion of science and sport. At the heart of this exhibition lies innovation, where stunning displays like the interactive locker room, transport visitors into the world of hockey.

“Partnering with the Montréal Science Centre, allowed us to create a unique experience that celebrates both sports and science. Our intent is to show how technology, physics, and innovation have transformed the game throughout history. We’re thrilled with the result, an exhibition that will fascinate sports enthusiasts and curious minds alike,” said Jay Brown, Principal & Managing Director of Flying Fish.

The exhibition offers visitors a chance witness the evolution of skates and gear from the 19th and 20th centuries, and discover the development of protective gear through fascinating displays. Display lockers are also outfitted with jerseys and current gear of NHL stars, allowing guests to feel a sense of connection with their favorite players.

The exhibition has numerous hands-on experiences and artifacts including:

  • Reaction time – how many lights can you hit in one minute?
  • Slapshot speed – what’s your highest speed in 3 shots?
  • Test your shot accuracy and see how many targets you can hit in 30 seconds.
  • Get a close-up look at the Stanley Cup via an interactive touchscreen!
