THEMUSEUM ANNOUNCES MANDATORY VACCINATIONS FOR ALL VISITORS

Effective September 22 all guests must show proof of vaccination | All Board and Staff Fully Vaccinated

Kitchener, ON | September 2, 2021 — Following the lead of the Province, THEMUSEUM announced today it will require all guests, suppliers, visitors on business, board members, full and part-time staff and volunteers to show proof of vaccination before being granted entry to any events, exhibitions and activities in its space, effective September 22. Weddings held until October 12 will continue to allow those sharing a negative COVID test instead of proof of vaccination.

“As an organization that hosts more than 100,000 guests annually and proudly serves as a central gathering place in Waterloo Region, we recognize it is our responsibility to provide guests with a safe and secure environment,” said David Marskell, CEO of THEMUSEUM. “It is also imperative that I have the safety and mental well-being in mind for all members of our organization.”

The decision reflects THEMUSEUM’s continued efforts to focus on the health and safety of its guests and the greater community amid the ongoing risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, all board members, staff and volunteers have been double vaccinated. Moving forward, all new hires will have to be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment.
With the new protocols coming into effect in September 22, guests planning to visit THEMUSEUM this November for the exclusive Canadian debut of The Rolling Stones | UNZIPPED exhibition delivered by DHL will be subject to the vaccine requirement.

“UNZIPPED is one of the biggest events Canadians can look forward to this fall, and we believe these new and enhanced health and safety protocols are the key to allowing our communities to experience UNZIPPED at full capacity and protect against further lockdowns,” said Marskell.

As a result of the size of UNZIPPED, THEMUSEUM will be closing its doors at the end of September to allow for the transformation of the building into Rolling Stones central from November 30, 2021 to February 27, 2022.

During The Rolling Stones | UNZIPPED, all regular public programming at THEMUSEUM will pause.

Anyone who is unable to be vaccinated due to medical reasons will be able to attend with proof of a negative COVID-19 test from the previous 24 hours.

THEMUSEUM will continue to follow its existing health and safety policies and procedures, including mask requirements. Government-issued proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test will be accepted in paper or electronic format. The Province of Ontario’s vaccination certificate app will become available in October, after which this will be the preferred method of gaining entry to THEMUSEUM. More details will be shared on this as they become known.

Tickets remain on sale for The Rolling Stones | UNZIPPED. For more information on the exhibition and ticket sales, visit www.UNZIPPEDkw.ca.
