Summer of Discovery
During the Summer of Discovery, THEMUSEUM created an immersive experience through six exhibitions including the return of the “Balloon Room” and a brand new installation ‘Ellipsis’ which allowed visitors to be part of a community art piece. Become a scientist for the day and learn all about health and nutrition in a child-sized science lab. Experience “Healing,” an interactive video installation, and then travel through space and see real meteorite samples, on loan from the ROM. Finally, discover your love of fantasy and magic with costumes and props from The Stratford Festival.
Science + You: Kohl Children’s Museum
Come try your hand at some science experiments! This child-sized laboratory gives children of all ages the opportunity to learn about what scientists do on a daily basis, the science of healthy living, tools used in labs, and the importance of experimentation.
Ellipsis
An ellipsis is the omission of words … using three consecutive dots. But what happens when you transcend the boundaries of written text and translate the idea into art? This summer visitors will be able to help create a dot room!
Add circular stickers of different sizes and colour to the walls, floor and objects in the room to create a collaborative art piece, inspired by artist Yayoi Kusama and the exhibition ‘The Obliteration Room’.
Mission: Outer Space A Com Dev Adventure
Do you know the name of the only star in our solar system? Have you ever traveled through space and visited our neighbour planets? Come journey through space and learn all about the planets and stars with us this summer!
You’ll also get the chance to see meteorite samples, on loan from the ROM!.
Stratford’s Discovering Fantasy
Enter a world of imagination, fantasy and magic while learning about the creative world of live theatre! This room will be filled with costumes and props on loan from the Stratford Festival Archives that were used in productions of The Tempest and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
#1562 Half the Air in a Given Space by Martin Creed
The balloon room is back! One of THEMUSEUM’s most popular art installations lets you enter a room that is already filled with over 1,000 balloons. The balloons fill up half the air in the room, while you and your friends fill up the rest of the space with your body. You’ll even be able to wave to your friends through one of the glass walls!
Healing by Brian Knep
If you fall and scrape your knee, the skin grows back anew. In this new installation, the floor will seemingly tear apart when you walk over it, only to grow back and become newly created after your presence dissolves. Come explore the various effects of human interaction in an interactive space.
