The “Museum After Dark” series presents a unique blend of entertaining events for young professionals throughout Kitchener-Waterloo. This month, our featured event, The Brush Off, focuses specifically on those involved within the arts and culture community.
How often do you get the chance to watch artists create original works of art? This probably isn’t something that you have the opportunity to witness very often. Now imagine you can, and to make it even more interesting, the artist has to paint an image that relates to a specific theme. Then, to top it all off, they have to complete their work in 30 minutes or less.
These rules may stress out artists, but they help fuel one of THEMUSEUM’s most popular events: The Brush Off.
For the fourth year in a row The Brush Off is back! On January 24, THEMUSEUM will come alive with some of Waterloo Region’s most well-known and emerging artists. The night will be filled with live-art, music, a cash bar, and quality entertainment.
The artists will be divided into groups at the beginning of the night and paint in rounds. During each round attendees are given the opportunity to vote for their favourite artists. Those with the most votes proceed to the next round, and at the end of the night, one will be declared the winner.
A total of 44 original pieces of artwork will be produced, and visitors will be able to bid on them. The lucky winners will become the proud owners of quality artwork produced by local artists, with proceeds going back to the artists themselves as well as THEMUSEUM.
This event sells out every year, so make sure you get your tickets ASAP!
Vote. Bid. Party. Love Art.
